Cemetery & Funeral Planning

Parishioners are urged to call the parish for Last Rites if a loved one is actively dying. Please do not wait until the last possible moment (a priest may not be available).

Please contact the funeral home of your choice when the death occurs. The funeral director will transfer the body to the funeral home in preparation for the funeral itself. The funeral director will meet with you and will work with the parish to make final arrangements.

Sacred Heart parishioners are encouraged to be buried in our own parish cemetery. As an extension of the parish campus, it is blessed ground, Masses and other prayers for our deceased are regularly offered, and you can be assured that the grounds will be well maintained. Our cemetery is located at 2600 Pratt Lake Rd in Gladwin approximately four miles north of M-61 and one mile east of M-18. It is directly across the road (south) from Ridge Cemetery.

PLEASE NOTE: burials of cremated remains are not done December 24 - March 15 due to frozen ground. Nevertheless, burials of cremated remains should be scheduled with the parish office as soon as possible. (Full-body burials are done year-round.)
